Working from home isn't always that easy. Even though it's great to have the freedom to work when ever and where ever you want, there is also a downside to having a home office: There are distractions, no set daily routine, no clear boarders between working time and leisure time... it's hard not to mix work with personal life.

To be honest, the main reason why I'm writing this blog post is because I'm procrastinating. Like a pro. Currently my number one priority is to work on my master thesis, but of course publishing two blog posts every week is a priority too (for my personal well-being, sort of), so guess which of the two one the fight.

If you are in a similar situation like I am, keep reading, take notes, and then get your sh*t together and get to work!

Here are my tips to beat procrastination and start to be productive.

Hey friends,

how are you feeling these days? Personally, I'm in a weird mood lately. Mood swings, negativity, anxiety (probably because my future is so uncertain – but then again, when is it not?!). Maybe it's the winter blues, maybe I'm just a little shaken up, but an inspiring round of Friday Favorites will be a nice little pick-me up for this very rainy and grey day today.

For this feature round I chose a DIY that I will most probably never do myself, but the skills and the work that went into this project just impressed me so much that I just HAD to feature it.

You wanna know what it is...? Well, I guess you'll just have to keep reading then :)

http://be-alice.blogspot.com/2017/02/diy-sweet-chai-lotion-bars.html

These lotion bars are great for hydrating your skin and soothing skin irritations. They also make for a great gift item, for a friend, your mom or even your boyfriend (mine already stole mine to use on his face). With the preparation being very easy, these are a great DIY project for beginners!

The fragrance is Chai tea (because I made these for a friend who loves Chai tea), but of course you could do any fragrance you like – such as chocolate, rose, peppermint, vanilla, orange, or lavender.

granola, breakfast, healthy, chocolate, coconut, cacao, chia, recipe

This recipe is basically a healthy version of my crunchy chocolate granola. However, it was actually inspired by an organic German granola by the brand Vegan Plus that I got for Christmas and that was gone within a week, whoops. It was super good, and the ingredients were oats, date juice concentrate, coconut oil, crushed cocoa beans, chia seeds, desiccated coconut, wholemeal rice flour, cocoa powder and sea salt – so that's what I tried to re-create!

Besides turning out super crunchy and chocolaty, this granola is rich in zinc from the cocoa beans, iron and magnesium from the oats, as well as calcium, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from the chia seeds. Plus, it's extremely delicious. Isn't this the best (and healthiest) excuse to have chocolate at breakfast? (Yes, it is.)

Hey friends,

hooray, it's the last day of my internship! Don't get me wrong, it was a great internship, but I'm just glad to have time for working on my master thesis as well as private projects such as my blog, social life etc. That sort of stuff, you know :)

Since I'm getting more into DIY projects lately, my feature for the week is also related to crafting: homemade soap! Although I must admit that I've never tried to make my own soap (nor do I feel up to it just yet), I think this is one of the best presents or DIY projects there is. Because who doesn't appreciate a bar of lovely smelling soap?

But now onto the link party!

http://be-alice.blogspot.com/2017/02/diy-healing-turmeric-tea-tree-toothpaste.html

EDIT: This recipe has been updated because I found the baking soda too abrasive to the enamel after all!

Homemade face masks? Okay. Homemade hair masks and lip balm? Also okay. But homemade toothpaste? Isn't that going a bit too far?

No. Quite the contrary.

Isn't it funny how we buy organic foods and shop for non-toxic, silicon-free shampoo, but then think nothing of whipping out a blue, sparkly toothpaste to put into our mouths? Most store-bought toothpastes contain glycerin, which has actually been shown to weaken tooth enamel over the long-term because it layers the teeth with a film that prevents the minerals in your saliva from interacting with your tooth enamel.

By making your own – remineralizing and alkalizing – toothpaste, you can leave out the fluoride and glycerin and instead pack your toothpaste with natural ingredients to provide your tooth enamel with all the necessary minerals.

You only need 5 affordable ingredients that are supportive of your oral health and hygiene.

Hey guys,

I have another week menu for you!

Hi guys! Are you ready for another round of Friday Favorites?

By this time next week, I will have just finished my internship, which means: my first free weekend!! So looking forward to this. Today was an exhausting day, my head felt like it was about to explode (or implode – either way, very painful), my brain just felt so dry and tired. With Valentine's Day coming up, everyone is thinking about how to show their love to their loved ones (do you really need a fixed day for this?), but instead, how about showing yourself some love. Which is why I chose a blog post on 3 Self Care Tips to Help You Feel Top Notch Even When You Don't Have Time.

Are your single and sort of dreading V-Day? Are you in a relationship, but not wanting to make a big deal of February 14th? Why not pamper yourself that day! Buy yourself some flowers (I'm in a relationship, but I still buy myself flowers and treat myself), make your favourite treat (here are some snack ideas and one of my favourite chocolate truffle recipes), read a good book, put on your favourite movie, blast your music, dance in your PJs, do whatever the heck you enjoy!

How are you spending Valentine's Day?
Personally, I will spend Valentine's Day at work in the office and then with my flatmates (including my boyfriend), and we will have a little barbecue and game party. Chilled, fun, and just the way I like it :)

But for now – let's party!

http://be-alice.blogspot.com/2017/02/5-healthy-snacks-for-work-or-school.html

This is for all my fellow snackers! Especially at work or at my desk at home, when my brain is working hard (or is plainly bored), my stomach seems to be a bottomless pit. Instead of grabbing a store-bored snack that is usually packed with unhealthy sugars, fats and other processed ingredients, why not make your own, healthier version of your favourite treats?

Whether sweet or savory, there's something for everyone! (I actually made these on Sunday as a birthday gift for my Dad who turned 50 on Monday, and he was pretty happy about the collection of wholesome snacks!)

These snacks are
Homemade
Healthy
Easy
Portable
Long-lasting
Delicious
& nutritious

Hey guys,

I have another week menu for you!

Hi friends, Happy February and welcome to another Favorites round-up!

I think my co-hostesses and I all share the same opinion: that the Valentine's-themed posts and linky parties will come soon enough any way! Instead of romantic (and for some even depressing) V-Day features, we've got some great upcycling projects, makeovers, simple DIYs, recipes and tips for mental decluttering. If you ask me, all of these are indicators that winter is slowly but surely coming to an end!

This party has something for everyone. Enjoy! :)
